The instructor of this course is Mr. Richard Grenier, English Teacher at West Warwick High School. After graduating from West Warwick High School in 1981, Mr. Grenier attended Rhode Island College where he earned a B.A. in Communication and English (Class of 1985). As a college student, he spent time working at the school radio station as well as interning at West Warwick's radio station WKRI and WJAR (Channel 10).
After completing the Teacher's Certification Program at the University of Rhode Island (1990), he began working in the Cranston School System.
He has previously taught Public Speaking at Cranston High School West in the late 1990s to early 2000s.
His experience in Public Speaking extends out of the classroom as an English teacher to being a "lector" for 38 years, Executive Board Member of three High School Associations (Past President of Soccer, Vice President of Basketball and President of Baseball), Director/Assistant Director of Baseball (Freshman and Middle School) and Umpire-in-Chief of several Cal Ripken State and New England Regional Tournaments. In addition, Mr. Grenier, who has spoken at several banquets over the past three decades, enjoys "impromptu" speaking and listening to motivational speeches from past and present public speakers.
